Pandemic Impact on India! ( Ecommerce industries) | DigiEcomm

So if we talk about about India , at present India reported over 3.46 lakh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours ending 9 am Saturday(24th April’21), making it the highest single-day spike in the country so far. This is also the most number of Covid cases reported in a day in any country in the world.

This pandemic situation has experienced lots of financial distress in different industries. During COVID 19 situation, most consumers switching to online shopping. As a result, this has created tremendous opportunities for e-commerce retailers. For sure being digitized is always the new Game changer and especially for post-COVID 19 situations.

Users are presently routine with this and there is no assumption that users will return back to malls or not, on the off chance that they will, the rate will be less and needs will change like touchless help.

Looking after this situations retailers are under pressure to expand their online presence and how they will regain their business with their actual target audiences. The closure of malls and different stores are a part of lockdown to stop the spreading of Coronavirus, which are now slowly reopening the business with government COVID-19 safety measures. The real challenge with the delivery part which connects an online retailer to an online shopper.

Mall’s situation since March’20

E- commerce market also needs a great shipment capacity with new transport partnerships to meet increased online orders as we said online is a vast platform, from another corner of the world anyone can ping you and place their order.

In this pandemic situation safety of the product is the priority for the whole circle. As safety is at first, this is for employees also who are working for your online business as well. For e-commerce businesses, the challenges include maintaining delivery services and ensuring customer needs are fully met.

Secure and fast delivery

Now as off we got to know that more and more number of people switching to online shopping, it’s a critical job for the retailer to meet the capabilities of eCommerce, there are lots of coding and technology involved behind a quick service for any website. Amazon is one example of how a leading player is rising to the challenge. The online presence should match to consumer needs this what COVID 19 situation demands from eCommerce sector, while retailers who met the challenge effectively, and in time, we’re able to “weather the storm successfully”.

Post-COVID there would be more opportunity for them who wants to grow their online business, it is easy to play your business role but you need to think first, the essential demands of online shoppers for example. On the Amazon Middle East website, during the first few weeks of the pandemic situation brought a sharp increase in the demand for groceries, personal care items and medical supplies, Sales of multi-purpose home cleaning products increased by more than 400 percent, packaged foods by 380 percent.

Not now then never !

Another point you need to take a look at during the situation the bulk buying was a new even that continues (B2B). Online platforms are vastly open so the risk of competition would be high.

Even after post-COVID customers would be looking for the best quality product within a budget. So all the points above are interlinked with each other the quality of product and satisfaction you give to the customer the quantity of profit you get. This is the simple calculation would help retailers soon after this pandemic.

Our government is trying hard to stabilize the situation and also suggesting retailer to bring their business online as it will help in the growth of standstill revenue for the past few months.

Hoping the best.

The best example is – A great start by Dubai as Dubai-based property developer Emaar has set-up a simulated Dubai Mall on the e-commerce platform noon.com for customers to shop virtually at many of the center’s well-known stores. Where your customer can easily find you. How smart they are!

Stay Home – Stay Safe

Improvement begins with I.

I’m strong because I’ve been weak!

This is Arshaan Shaikh. I am one of the founders of DigiEcomm, this blog is just to give you a brief introduction about me.

It was during 2015 when I was in my 2nd year of college doing computers, actually my college was near my house therefore I was having a lot of time after my college, so I always use to think about doing one or other thing to earn some extra bucks.

Never put the key to your happiness in somebody else’s pocket.

I was a regular at Manish market; one fine evening when I was just searching for some good watches for myself there, an idea just strucked me and I was like woaahhhhh this can be an absolute gem of an idea. What if I sell these vintage looking watches on Amazon and Flipkart which are cheap as well as have value for money.
Also I wanted to try and see what profit I can make selling these products on the eCommerce platforms.

So I started with a small bunch of around 15 to 20 watches and after 2 months I saw a decent amount of growth in sales, and that was the moment when I decided to invest some more money to scale up this business.

Very quickly I had a very good insight about how things work in eCommerce and related stuffs such as cataloging, maintaining product hygiene and ads associated to it.
To solidify my understanding I attended various online classroom sessions and trainings as no one has done any kind of business in my entire family or friends circle; neither offline nor online.

The good thing that happened during those days was evolution of new eCommerce platforms which helped me understand more about the online market trends and their needs. This evolution indirectly helped me scale up my business in a very short span of time.

Fortunately I was able to make a turnover of 25 Lakhs(2.5 Million) in the first year of starting this business.

Came 2017 and GST was introduced and the category which I was dealing in, fell under the luxury bracket. From the very beginning the profit margin was low and after the introduction of GST it further drifted down.

Coincidentally the eCommerce took a hit in 2017, that pushed me to think of other options for my survival. I decided to join a company and gain some more insights and expertise in this field. It was then I joined Mark Mediums in 2017. I joined there as an account manager and in no time was promoted to Brand manager designation. I was given one of the high profile online brands in India to manage and I created a profit of around 10Cr(100 Million) in revenue for that brand. That was quite an achievement for me at that moment of time.

Become addicted to constant and never-ending self-improvement.

After that I got a very good opportunity in a company called FYND.Basically FYND was a fashion curated marketplace such as Myntra. I worked there for 5 months and there I gain more knowledge about the marketplace and what were their requirements from brands.

So with this 4+ years of my experience working along with different brands and understanding the marketplace, I thought of challenging myself and decided to start my own company which will help brands reach marketplace. That was when DigiEcomm came into existence as an aggregator company in January 2019.

So far I am doing very well with good brands like Libertina, Zush and recently with Bewakoof which is India’s one of the best fashion brands. Having this experience, now I want to ascent in this field where everything would be on the fingertips.
